Strange title ?

I've been working on this, off 'n' on for 12 months with the intention of keeping adding to it until it's a much bigger canvas. With a view above and at the base

My wife says she thinks I've overworked the background.
I'd appreciate thoughts as I don't want to waste more time on it if it's not looking OK
